Jack's BIG Weekend

This weekend was also known as "The Weekend Where Jack Earned the Right to be as Fussy as he Wants for the Foreseeable Future"
He really is a little champ.  Jack listened intently and seriously as his Mom and Dad were sworn in and promised to be good parents and care for him in every way.  He smiled when the lawyer made sure we understood that adoption is permanent and irrevocable.  You can not un-adopt.

He even agreed with Mommy that the King County Courthouse is really cool in it's Art Deco interiors.

We were joined at the Court House by My parents Larry and Leslie; Our Social Worker/Friend Becky; and Eric one of Jack's four God Parents.

Then we had a PARTY!!! Baseball was our theme complete with home-run centerpieces.   Jack loves his uncle Jared and pats his beard as though it is a pet.  He let everyone hold him.  He slept in people's arms.  He was a trooper.  And then we even went bowling later and he slept through it.
Jer's family made the trip up from Portland, as did my brother Jared and his fiancĂ©e Wanda; and my youngest brother Brian and his friend Jim.
We were so happy to be putting a period to the end of the legal process!

Sunday we had him Dedicated to the Lord.  Our dear friends Christine and Chris and Cheryl and Eric are Jack's God Parents.

It was awesome to present our son to the congregation that had prayed this journey through with us.

Next week I am the main speaker at the Mother's Day Brunch, the theme is "Connecting in Love" and I think I may have a few words to say about that!

What's Jack up to these days?

Jack, it seems loves to sing. He has the most melodic babel of any baby I've been around! He's music to my ears! He's doing it now! I'll have to get it recorded, but he's one of those camera shy kiddos.

Finalization is fast approaching and I'm so excited!

We went to his 4 month Appointment, and the little man weighs 16lbs 15 oz, and is 26 1/2 inches long! For the percentile watchers, that is the 90th! WOW. Big kid! And the day before his appointment he rolled over for the first time that I actually saw. Now he rolls both directions like he's been doing it all the time!

He's been trying foods. Rice cereal with apple juice or apple sauce (thanks for the tip Melba)and he loves sweet potatoes, he ate nearly an ounce and a half yesterday. He's still drinking bottles a majority of the time, but he was eyeballing our food and waking to the smell of food cooking, so, I asked the DR. if it would be ok, and she was enthusiastic about it. But boy! Diapers are noticeably different!

We sent Jack's Birthmother a birthday card, because today is her birthday! Happy Birthday to a wonderful person, I pray you are taking good care of yourself and that your year is truly blessed by God. (I don't think you read this, but just in case! :))

Love to all!

Easter

Jer's Grandparents were with us for Easter, and it was fine, but when they come it is all about making sure they have everything they need and it's just crazy busy. Jer sang two solos at church and did very well! Alas, we didn't get any pictures because people rushed me out of the church. When I wanted to get pics with Jack and Jer by the Easter lilies. Oh well!

He is Risen! And THAT is the focus of Easter, not the fact that this is Jack's second "Holy Holiday" :p. I am so grateful for my savior as I sit here reflecting on His Resurrection with the freedom of alone time. Having guests just doesn't allow for much spirituality. So, my favorite song is this:

"CELEBRATE JESUS CELEBRATE!! CELEBRATE JESUS, CELEBRATE! HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN! AND HE LIVES FOREVERMORE!!" I miss going to the Nazarene church!

OH...and I spent 1:45 at the Hospital on Saturday Evening, because I tried to amputate my fingertip...I have 6 stitches, one holding my fingernail to the nail bed. Sweet. I was cutting a toy off of a cardboard for Jack. I really don't know what happened after that, as I went into auto and managed to get bandaged up enough to go to the hospital...there are more details, but I'll spare you. :D I'm fine, just sheepish.

cuteness alert

Jer and Jack are sitting in the recliner by the window and the wild wind was entertaining Jack. Jer says "It's a blustery day in the 100 acre...Seattle." Jack laughed. My cute Husband!

Also, we were watching Bonnie Hunt and Zachary Levi from Chuck was on and the crowd was going nutso, Bonnie says, "you're loved!" and Zachary looks at her and says effusively, "I LOVE YOU!" and Jack replied to Zack in his baby version of "I love you too!" So, when ever anyone says I love you, apparently they're saying it to Jack. :D My cute little boy!
